Self-Reliance
Self-Reliance is a classroom or after school education program teaching youth skills needed for independence.
These programs help youth learn important life skills needed to take care of themselves and others in various situations. Some skills include good nutrition, kitchen safety, basic first aid, proper use of the telephone/internet, fire escape planning, and saying “no” to dangerous situations. These courses are offered to groups as well as schools and can be scheduled for open enrollment.
Camp Fire USA River Bend Council has experienced many success stories with the Self-Reliance program. Self-Reliance relies on funding from donations from civic organizations, and contributions from individuals.
