Camp Tawanchi is a summer day camp program at Merrifield Park in Mishawaka, Indiana. Youth enjoy crafts, sports, archery, swimming, hiking, reading projects, drama, 4-H projects, and a different theme each week. Absolutely Incredible Kid Day
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is a national letter writing campaign held on the 3rd Thursday of March each year. The goal for this campaign is that every child in America will receive an uplifting letter on that day. Learn More >
Self-Reliance
Certified Camp Fire USA instructors teach self-reliance classes in Saint Joseph County schools. This valuable program serviced 2,113 youth in 2005. Teachers may enroll their classes by contacting the Camp Fire USA staff. Our program includes "Count on Me" for Kindergarten – 2nd graders, "I Can Do It" for 3rd graders and two American Red Cross courses: "Basic Aid Training" and "First Aid for Children Today." Club Program
Camp Fire USA Club programming is available to youth where adult volunteer mentors are available. This program has something for youth from Kindergarten to Senior High. Many youth join in elementary school and remain to graduate from the program as seniors. Serving as an adult mentor is one of the Council’s most rewarding volunteer roles. Learn More >
After-School Programs
Camp Fire USA also services several local after school locations. South Bend LEAP, El Campito, La Casa De Amistad and Salvation Army. Youth must be enrolled that organizations after school program to participate.
